Rooted In God's Word, Growing In Christ Together
Our slogan above represents our purpose as a church. We want to be a church which is anchored in the everlasting truth of the Bible. Over and over, we are reminded that God’s Word will never fade away, and we must hold fast to it as our foundation. Within the bounds of its truth, we desire to grow together in spiritual maturity, in love for one another and the community where we live, and in the ability to reach others with the gospel message. We hope that you will consider the opportunity to grow with us!
WHAT WE BELIEVE
The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
There is one God, eternally existent in three persons; God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
In the blessed hope – the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.
The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.
In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and other to everlasting damnation.

Andrew Scheltens Sr.
Children's Ministry Pastor
Andrew Scheltens Sr. has been the Children’s Ministry Pastor at Griffith Baptist Church since 2015. Andrew and his wife, Jessica, have a passion to help children and families grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ and to share the gospel with others. That passion for reaching families with the gospel has taken them as far as starting children’s churches in Ghana, West Africa and as close as Bible clubs in the local community schools. The theme of their life is to love God and love people. Their heartbeat is to build the kingdom of God by reaching the greatest mission field in the world: Children. Along with his role as children’s ministry pastor, Andrew has been a leader and volunteer of public school Good News Clubs in Lake County, Indiana. In the summer, Andrew and his family help conduct 5-Day Clubs in the local community and share the gospel with hundreds of children and families at the Lake County Fair with Child Evangelism Fellowship. Since coming to Griffith Baptist Church, Andrew and Jessica have helped to restart the Children’s Sunday School and Children’s Church. Andrew and his wife Jessica live in Merrillville, Indiana with their 7 children: Jessalynn, Andrew Jr. (A.J.), Andreanna, Trina, Addelyn, Jay, and Titus.
Intern Worship Leader
Bradley Knight is an intern at Griffith Baptist, focusing primarily on leading Sunday morning worship. Hired in the fall of 2017, Bradley says: “With this internship, I am not only learning to lead but to serve as well.” Before taking this internship, Bradley graduated from Calumet Christian School. While at CCS, he led chapel for 4 1/2 years and graduated as Valedictorian. Currently, Bradley is attending Purdue University Northwest, where he wants to graduate with a degree in Broadcast Communication.
Bradley’s favorite bible verse is Romans 8:31 which states, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” He says this is his favorite verse because it reminds him that no matter what stands in his way, God is with him.
